Job Description - Ambassador - House of Force

Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Prevention Manager and outreach coordinator, the House of Force Ambassador will serve as a critical community connector and outreach specialist for HIV prevention within the Kiki and House Ball communities of Hudson County. This position is help ambassador be job ready and focused on building leadership, promoting status-neutral HIV prevention strategies, increasing access to PrEP and nPEP, and facilitating essential health services. The Ambassador will lead grassroots efforts, foster relationships with House leaders, coordinate culturally competent events, and conduct digital and in-person outreach to engage Young Men who have Sex with Men (YMSM) in high-impact prevention interventions. All ambassadors are required to complete 10-12 hours of outreach/referral training. 

 

Core Responsibilities include assisting with the follow grant goals and activities:

  • Conduct targeted outreach to members of the Kiki and Ballroom community, prioritizing YMSM and high-risk negative (HRN) individuals, both in-person and via social media, to promote HIV prevention services.
  • Refer community members to PrEP/nPEP services 25-40, HIV/STI testing, condoms, and behavioral interventions using a status-neutral approach.
  • Serve as a bridge to House mothers and fathers to build trust and facilitate access to health resources.
  • Help with disseminate key messaging through Facebook House pages, Instagram, and other platforms to promote local HIV prevention events and digital campaigns.
  • Support coordination of 4 in-person social events focused on U=U, PrEP/nPEP, condom usage, and routine testing, ensuring they are tailored to the House Ball community.
  • Promote and support 5 virtual social media campaigns using existing CDC materials (e.g., U=U, Do It, Treatment Works, Testing Makes Us Stronger).
  • Suggest 10 House Ball community leaders to attend House of Health collaborative meetings and participate in coalition and planning meetings.
  • Provide risk reduction education, distribute safer sex kits, and ensure 300+ individuals receive accurate prevention and treatment information.
  • Ensure that 15% (45 individuals) of high-risk HIV-negative individuals attending events are referred to PrEP or nPEP services.
  • Distribute 20,000 condoms to HIV-positive and HRN individuals through street outreach, tabling events, and direct engagement.
  • Support referral and linkage for 270 YMSM to high-impact HIV prevention interventions such as CLEAR, Mpowerment, 3MV, and linkage to care/treatment services.
  • Ensure that 45 individuals living with HIV are referred to and complete a HIP behavioral intervention through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Offer referrals and testing access to at least 75 individuals for HIV and STI screening.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential outreach logs, referral tracking, and reporting tools in accordance with agency standards.
  • Participate in regular supervision and Hudson County HIV Planning Group meetings, and coordinate with Hudson Pride and LGBTQ+ partner organizations to promote programming and build community trust.

Requirements

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Lived or professional experience within the House Ball community, with strong ties to YMSM populations and LGBTQ+ health equity.
  • Some knowledge of status-neutral HIV prevention strategies, PrEP/nPEP, STI prevention, U=U, and harm reduction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in digital spaces (social media, DMs, Facebook groups) and in-person outreach environments.
  • Comfort with public speaking, facilitating group dialogue, and building consensus among community leaders.
  • Client friendly attitude when working in event, peer engagement actitives, or leadership training is preferred.
  • Good documentation skills to complete outreach logs and familiarity with confidentiality practices and HIPAA-compliant recordkeeping.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, especially during social events and outreach activities.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
