AMC Food Distribution Volunteer Needed

Description

We are seeking a Food Distribution Volunteer(s) to assist our community health worker team in distributing fresh produce to patients in our Healdsburg or Windsor locations. 

Volunteer(s) will have to stand for a long period but can take a break whenever they need one. If a volunteer needs accommodation, please let an AMC team member know. Some of the volunteer tasks may include:

• Set up and take down tables, food boxes, and occasional flyers. 
• Welcome patients and assist with their food pick-up.
• Occasionally assist with loading boxes of food items into waiting vehicles and direct traffic when needed. 
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

Some of the traits we are seeking include:

• Comfortable assisting people of diverse economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds. A volunteer will be communicating with and assisting patients from many different cultures and ethnicities, mostly Spanish-speaking.
• Friendly, helpful customer service demeanor.
• Highly respectful of patient confidentiality.
• Commitment to following food safety guidelines.
• Ability to remain calm and patient in a busy setting.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Up-to-date vaccines

Background check:  Per AMC policy, AMC will be conducting criminal background checks for all volunteers in this position, both existing and new. AMC reserves the right to refuse to work with a volunteer, or dismiss a current volunteer, based on the results of the background check.  

Available volunteer shifts:

AMC Healdsburg 8:30am-11am

AMC Windsor 8:30am-11am

 Volunteer shifts are 3.5 hours long, with a preference for a long-term commitment, although not required. Flexible scheduling or substitute opportunities are available for those unable to commit weekly.
