Summary: As part of the Behavior & Training team, this role assesses and enhances the adoption potential of dogs and cats through direct interaction, provides counseling during adoption sessions, manages helpline inquiries, and teaches dog training classes to volunteers and the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Update TLC boards as assigned.
Perform daily behavior modification for selected shelter animals.
Assist in training department volunteers.
Collaborate with managers on the adoption or euthanasia of animals due to behavioral issues.
Maintain a positive and educational approach when interacting with the public, staff, and volunteers.
Counsel the public on responsible animal care (e.g., spaying/neutering, vaccinations).
Lead the Enrichment program as assigned.
Handle Animal Behavior Helpline calls with a customer-friendly approach.
Use positive reinforcement methods for training.
Conduct one-on-one behavior consultations for recent adopters.
