Job Title: Assistant High School Track Coach
School: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School

Employment Type: Seasonal / Part-Time

Position Overview:

St Michael the Archangel, a Catholic college preparatory high school rooted in Catholic values and academic excellence, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Track Coach to help lead our high school track and field program. The coach will be responsible with assisting the overall coordination, development, and supervision of the boys' and girls' track teams, fostering a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth consistent with the mission of a Catholic school.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the high school track program, including practices, meets, conditioning, and athlete development.
• Promote and model Christian values, positive sportsmanship, and respectful behavior on and off the field.
• Provide spiritual leadership by integrating Catholic values into team activities and fostering character development.
• Instruct athletes in proper techniques, strategies, and safety procedures in all track and field events.
• Develop and manage a coaching staff that reflects the values and goals of the program.
• Collaborate with the athletic director regarding scheduling, budgeting, equipment needs, and compliance with league and school policies.
• Maintain communication with student-athletes, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Ensure academic eligibility and monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Organize team transportation, meet entries, and practice schedules.
• Comply with all relevant regulations from the school, league, and state athletic associations (e.g., CIF, MIAA).
• Encourage student participation and assist with recruitment at the middle school level, if applicable.

Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic preferred; commitment to upholding Catholic teachings and traditions required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level required; head coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of a variety of track and field events and techniques.
• Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• CPR, First Aid, and NFHS Coaching Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Background check and Safe Environment training required.
