Assistant Mechanic - Part Time

New Albany Country Club is hiring an Assistant Mechanic. This position will work alongside our Equipment Manager to become proficient through on-the-job training in the area of; cutting units maintenance, electrical, hydraulics, engine repair, metal working, and drivetrain in the repair and maintenance of the golf course's equipment. We are looking for an individual who is interested in making a career out of this position in the future.  Currently this position is part-time but could lead to full-time employment.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing a variety of mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance work including servicing motorized equipment


• Checking in equipment after it is used on the golf course


• Overhauling, repairing, services, and lubricating golf carts, golf course equipment and other powered equipment.


• Inspecting equipment for operating deficiencies and making routine adjustments where necessary


• Filling automotive equipment with gas and oil


• Inspecting, changing, and repairing tires


• Cleaning working area after repair work is completed


• Repairing and adjusting engine and cutting mechanisms on a variety of heavy and light mowing equipment


• All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must be18 years of age and have a valid drivers license.


• Must be dependable and have reliable transportation, able to be at work on time.


• Able to refrain from cell phone usage while working.


• Have an interest in learning a trade one can make a career out of.


• 1-2 years experience in any mechanical or equivalent training is helpful but not required


• Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline and diesel engine


• Willing to learn the different disciplines that golf course maintenance covers: cutting unit, electrical, hydraulics, fundamentals of turfgrass, drivetrain, metal working, combustible engines and sprayers. 


• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and not be afraid to ask questions.


• Strong troubleshooting skills are helpful in this position


• Mechanical ability to use common mechanical tools

This is a full-time hourly position with the following schedule:

In Season (April-Oct): M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Every other weekend is required during the season.

Off Season (Nov-March): M-F 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
