Assistant Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$45,853.60-Annual Maximum Salary-$77,001.60
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences is seeking to hire a part-time (.5 ) Assistant Professor for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching research courses in the MSOT curriculum, fulfilling a scholarly agenda, and participating in professional, university and program-based service.
Essential Job Functions:
Scholarship of Teaching
• Developing course materials in specialized area of expertise including writing course syllabi and developing appropriate instructional methods
• Teaching courses assigned in content area of expertise and meeting program standards for student and peer evaluations
• Developing and administering student assessments including exams, quizzes, and assignments, as appropriate
• Enhancing expertise in teaching content areas through continuing education, practice, and using current literature in teaching content
• Participating in ongoing curriculum and program assessment
• Meeting all classes as scheduled; reporting final grades at the designated time; having an appropriate number of office hours
University and Community Service/Clinical Practice
• Advising students
• Assisting in the recruitment and admissions of students
• Attending school/college events including student orientation and commencement exercises
• Performing committee assignments at the school/college and university level
• Performing community service
Professional Growth, Scholarly, and Creative Activities
• Engage in scholarly activity related to job function and area of expertise
• Contribute to the supervision and mentorship of student research
• Engage in professional development in area of research
University-wide Essential Functions
• Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
• Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU.
• Other duties as assigned (perform and report on any other reassigned duties for the program)
Requirements
Education:
• Required: Earned doctoral degree or Master’s degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
Experience:
• Prior experience mentoring graduate health sciences students in the conduct of research
• Record of service to the profession and/or community
• Prior teaching experience in an academic setting
• Prior experience working with rural and underserved populations

Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to solve problems by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow; ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; ability to schedule activities and/or meetings; and ability to use new technologies
