Job Title: Athletic Scorekeeper


Supervisor: Recreation Director


Job Type: Part-Time, Seasonal


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Hours: Varies, including nights and weekends


Hourly Range: $14.81/hr


Closing Date: Wednesday, September 24th at 5pm

The Role:


As our Athletic Scorekeeper, you will be in charge of keeping score and tracking game statistics during various sporting events. This position may also assist with set-up, break down, and prep of field and equipment.



Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Must arrive 15 minutes before scheduled time. Earlier if setup is required

  • Greets the public and answers questions in person

  • Performs scorekeeping duties for youth and adult volleyball and basketball games as assigned.

  • Assists with set-up, break down, and prep of facilities

  • Aids during emergencies

  • Uses all required safety equipment

  • Follows all of Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District emergency and safety procedures

  • Cleaning up game sites after games and tournaments including emptying trash cans, picking up trash around fields and facilities etc.

  • Attend necessary staff meeting

  • Communicates openly and effectively with supervisors, co-workers, staff, participants, parents, volunteers, and other community members

  • Provide excellent customer service in a timely manner

  • Models appropriate behaviors and handles complaints and disciplinary problems involving patrons or staff in a professional manner and adhering to district policies and procedures

  • Report any changes, conflicts, or unsafe circumstances to supervise immediately

  • Has thorough knowledge of and communicates effectively with customers regarding district programs, policies, and services

  • Perform additional assigned duties as required



Desired Skills and Qualifications:



  • Must be 14 years of age or older

  • Knowledge of the Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District rules

  • Concise communication skills

  • Strong assessment skills

  • Ability to collaborate with others, work as a member of a team

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to handle emergency situations using good judgement.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


 


Environmental Consideration:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee has limited supervision in a variety of settings including indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to varying noise levels that can be very loud.
