Assist the Autism Service Director in directing and coordinating autism services to eligible families by performing the following duties through the Autism Clinic or through the Pediatric Outpatient Center team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist eligible families with children with concerns with autism or needed autism services in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational and other services.
Provide an initial interview, including a written comprehensive assessment of the child’s assets, deficits, and needs, using appropriate assessment tools to determine and interpret assessments.
Provide planning of autism evaluations and services, including facilitation and participation in the development, review, and implementation of the evaluation within appropriate time frames.
Provide service arrangement, including assisting the family in identifying necessary services or resources as needed by the family.
Secure appropriate documentation from other providers as required by funding sources.
Provide social support, including assisting the child/family in expanding or establishing a social support network through linkage with appropriate persons, support groups, and/or agencies.
Conduct reassessment/follow up, including evaluating the child’s progress toward accomplishing the goals.
Provide monitoring, including determining (on an ongoing basis) what services have been provided and whether they are adequate to meet the child/family’s needs and documenting those needs, referrals, and outcomes.
Complete necessary documentation as required for maintenance of the child’s case management record as well as for accountability and billing purposes.
Assist and enabling children and their families to receive the rights, procedural safeguards, and services as defined by the Pediatric Outpatient Center (POC).
Serve as the single point of contact in helping parents obtain services and assistance needed for them and their children.
Attend workshops and conferences as needed to identify current Autism practices, supports and family services.
Maintain all records needed for the Autism Clinic.
Attend all record reviews requested of funding sources
Submitting approved grant applications and grant data in a timely manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of organizations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a social service–related field required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required
