Bakery Assistant - Part-Time - Days

Description

This position is primarily responsible for producing baked items, preparation of salads and desserts as needed, and transporting finished baked goods. Assists in washing dishware, pots, and pans.Responsible for cleanliness and proper equipment usage, kitchen appliances, and work areas. Must follow policies regarding sanitation, food handling, safety, confidentiality, personal appearance and hygiene, reporting hazardous conditions and accidents, and attendance at in-service training while maintaining high-quality service to residents.

Based on previous experiences and qualifications, the starting base rate is $10.85 - $13.02 per hour.

Work Schedule

• 7:00 am-3:30 pm, 3 shifts per week (no Saturday hours)
• 24 hours a week, 48 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)
• Eligible for benefits on the date of hire

Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent with a minimum of 1 year experience cooking in an institutional food service environment. Must have a background in baking procedures for breads, cakes, pies and various desserts, in quantity production environment. Position requires long hours standing, and the ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Must have working knowledge of HACCP and OSHA protocols. Must be detail-oriented, possess basic mathematical skills and the ability to follow standardized recipes. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to maintain the care and appearance of bakery areas and equipment and must work to minimize the waste of supplies. Must be able to act, intervene independently in routine and emergency situations, be self-motivated, and maintain positive relationships with residents and co-workers. Must be able to overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled. Must be able to deal tactfully with residents, families, and the general public in a positive, professional, and customer first manner. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments; ability to perform the duties listed in the job description with limited supervision. Self-motivated, able to schedule time wisely and accommodate changes.
