Bakery Clerk

Description

Job Summary: As a Bakery Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting customers, preparing bakery items, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the bakery, and ensuring products are stocked and visually appealing. You will work closely with other bakery staff to provide excellent customer service and uphold the quality standards of the bakery.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting bakery items.
• Provide information about products, such as ingredients, flavors, and pricing.
• Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally.

Bakery Operations:

• Prepare bakery items such as bread, pastries, cakes, and cookies according to recipes and guidelines.
• Package and label bakery items appropriately.
• Ensure freshness and quality of all bakery products.

Stock Management:

• Stock shelves and display cases.
• Rotate products to ensure freshness 
• Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low stock items.

Cleanliness and Sanitation:

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including countertops, equipment, and display cases.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Dispose of waste properly and ensure recycling practices are followed

Teamwork:

• Collaborate with bakery team members to ensure efficient operation of the bakery.
• Support colleagues during busy periods or special events.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a bakery or food service environment preferred.
• Knowledge of baking techniques and food safety regulations.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, flour, and baking smells.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
