Barback Job Description

Position Summary
The Barback supports bartenders by ensuring the bar is clean, organized, fully stocked, and operating efficiently. This role is essential for maintaining smooth service flow, exceptional guest experiences, and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  Restock all bar products including spirits, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and bar tools.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain a clean and sanitary bar area: wipe surfaces, polish glassware, remove trash, and run dish machines.

  
  


• 
  

  Refill ice wells, clean spill mats, and ensure all stations remain service-ready throughout the shift.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist bartenders with prep tasks such as batching cocktails, cutting garnishes, juicing citrus, and organizing mise en place.

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or needs to bartending/management teams.

  
  


• 
  

  Support opening and closing procedures, including deep cleaning and restocking.

  
  


• 
  

  Comply with all food safety, beverage handling, and sanitation standards.

  
  


• 
  

  Run dishes and glassware between bar and kitchen as needed to maintain efficient service.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide occasional guest assistance by delivering water, menus, or clearing bar tops.

  
  


• 
  

  Uphold brand standards, hospitality values, and a positive team environment.

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  Prior bar or restaurant experience preferred but not required.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong work ethic, urgency, and willingness to learn bar operations.

  
  


• 
  

  Team-oriented with excellent communication and attention to detail.

  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

  Must meet age requirements for handling alcohol in the local jurisdiction.
