Job Description - Barista | Part-Time | Lucas Museum of Narrative Art

Position Summary






The Barista is responsible for creating the Starbucks Experience for guests in the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art by providing legendary customer service, preparing high-quality beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean, welcoming café environment. This position serves as a brand ambassador by delivering exceptional service and ensuring all products are prepared according to Starbucks standards. The Barista plays an important role in creating memorable guest experiences within a fast-paced convention center environment.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00-$24.00 and is tip eligible.

About the Venue






Oak View Group is proud to operate the food and beverage program at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The hospitality operation features a diverse portfolio of dining experiences, including a multi-concept café, a modern luxury restaurant, a licensed Starbucks location, and a robust special events catering program. The team is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding food, service, and hospitality within one of the nation's premier cultural destinations.









Responsibilities






  • Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages, according to Starbucks recipes and standards.
  • Provide friendly, engaging, and efficient customer service to all guests.
  • Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain product quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Restock coffee, beverages, food items, cups, syrups, and other supplies throughout shifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, equipment, workstations, dining areas, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup, cleaning, and inventory tasks.
  • Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to supervisors.
  • Resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support team members during high-volume periods and special events.
  • Maintain knowledge of Starbucks products, promotions, and menu offerings.








Qualifications






  • Previous customer service, food service, coffee shop, café, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Starbucks experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Basic cash handling and point-of-sale experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn beverage recipes and preparation techniques.
  • Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based shifts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
