Compensation:
Pay Range: $18 - $22 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Intervention Assistant (BIA) services are habilitative services provided when there are behavioral health needs of the member and assistance is required with activities of daily living (ADL), instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), and/or social, behavioral, and adaptive skills. BIAs must possess specialized skills to address the challenging behaviors of members who have a severe and disabling mental illness. This includes redirecting inappropriate and unsafe behaviors, providing supervision to address a member’s safety, and extensive cuing and prompting.
BIA and Member are required to complete an initial goal setting report upon starting services, in conjunction with the individual goals that are established with the Member's case management team.
BIA is required to record a visit note for every shift they have with the Member.
BIA must complete a goal progress report quarterly.
BIA and Member are required to complete a goal setting report annually.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Dependability and a commitment to high moral standards are essential
- Must pass background checks, including criminal history, driving record, and references
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are required
- Must possess a working phone number
- Completion of EPAGA Accredited Caregiver with Behavioral Intervention Assistant specialty training is mandatory; prior training as a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and/or Behavioral Intervention Assistant (BIA) may qualify for a training waiver.
Travel Requirements:
-This position may require travel throughout the year to various member locations, including their homes and community settings. Employees should be prepared to travel in diverse weather conditions and adapt to different environments as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Work will occur in member homes, community settings, and vehicles
- Light to moderate physical exertion may be required, including standing, walking, and lifting
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment is necessary in certain situations
