Position: Bilingual Spanish Speaking High School U.S. History Regents Exam Tutor Location: High School of Language and Innovation, 925 Astor Ave, Bronx, NY 10469

About the Role: We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide targeted Regents prep support for high school students at the High School of Language and Innovation. The Education Champion (tutor) will push into U.S. History classrooms, working with small groups of students who need to pass the U.S. History Regents exam. This is a high-impact role focused on helping students build confidence, improve comprehension, and gain the skills they need to succeed on the exam.
What You’ll Do:
Provide push-in academic support in U.S. History classrooms, focusing on Regents exam preparation.
Work with small groups of students to reinforce instruction and build test-taking strategies.
Support reading comprehension, document analysis, and critical thinking skills aligned to the Regents exam.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure instruction is aligned with curriculum and student needs.
Offer bilingual support in Spanish to better serve English Language Learners (preferred).
Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment for high school students.
Schedule:
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (3 hours per day)
Duration: April 21, 2025 – June 13, 2025 (excluding holidays and Regents exam days)
Key Dates Off:
May 26 – Memorial Day
June 5 – Anniversary Day
June 6 – Clerical Day
June 10 – Regents (Sciences)
June 11 – Regents (Geometry)
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: Previous experience tutoring or teaching high school students in social studies, especially U.S. History.
Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of U.S. History and Regents exam content.
Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
Engagement Skills: Ability to connect with high school students and keep them engaged in small-group learning.
Collaboration: Comfort working with teachers and adapting to the classroom environment.
Commitment: Must be available for the full duration of the program.
