Bistro Cook - PM SHIFT

The Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Briarcliff is now accepting applications for the Bistro Cook - PM SHIFT. The Bistro at Courtyard is a chic, fast-casual concept restaurant offering an eclectic menu including a variety of refreshing to-go options as well as full sit-down fare including cocktails, wine, beer, and Starbucks coffee.

The Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Briarcliff features 123 guest rooms, Bistro, event space, fitness center pool, and many other amenities for guests to enjoy. The properties wide variety of amenities and guest services often lead to promotion from within the organization and Marriott.

PM SHIFT:  

Monday- Sunday 4:30pm-10:30pm

Saturday Sunday 6:30am-12:00pm

Monday through Friday 5:30am-10:30am

Job Description

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including; portioning, chopping, and storing food.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist for hotel restaurant and catered functions
• Understands food cost and portion control without sacrificing quality
• Assists with food quality and presentation maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and restaurant
• Accommodates Guests’ special requests
• Always adheres to proper food handling and safety guidelines 
• Assists with inventory, ordering, and receiving of all Food and Beverage items as directed
• Maintains and enforces sanitation laws and safety standards with anyone entering the kitchen area
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere 
• Adheres to proper grooming and dress codes for the department
• Carries out hotel emergency procedures
• Performs all other duties as directed, developed, or assigned
• Must be able to understand the proper use of kitchen equipment and verbal instructions

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. 

Education & Experience:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): or Work Equivalent.
• Must have good understanding of the English language and previous guest/customer relations training.
• Must be TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certified, or be willing to become certified
• Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system

Requirements

• Food preparation, ability to follow recipes, adhere to all food safety guidelines and excellent customer service skills
• Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, oven, grill, stove, dishwasher, and utensils
• Have or ability to obtain a KCMO Food Handler License within 30 days of hire
