About Us
Founded by Family. Built for Community. Fueled by Love.
At Howard Intervention Center (HIC), the journey is personal. Founded in 2017 by sisters Cara Wilson, SLPP, DT, M.Ed., M.A. and Ca’Shawn Morris, BBA, ST, RBT, HIC was created to fill the gap in quality, family-centered autism services—because we needed them ourselves.
When Cara’s son, Alonzo, was born in 2012, she quickly noticed developmental delays. As a seasoned speech therapist and educator, she knew what to look for—and what was missing in the system: truly individualized, results-driven care that supports not only the child, but the entire family. Together, she and her sister Ca’Shawn set out to change that.
Named in honor of their late father, Howard Intervention Center delivers Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and developmental therapy services to children from diagnosis through age 12. Every child receives one-on-one attention from a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in a warm, nurturing, and sensory-friendly environment. Our work focuses on:
– Language & Communication Skills
– Social & Emotional Development
– Play & Pretend Skills
– Fine & Gross Motor Skills
– Behavioral Support & Life Skills
Our staff is not only highly trained and credentialed, but many have immediate family members on the autism spectrum. We believe this makes our care deeper, more empathetic, and more effective.
In 2025, we proudly moved into our new, expanded facility at 21141 Governor’s Hwy, Suite 301 in Matteson, Illinois. Our new space includes multiple therapy rooms, a virtual playground, and the only Fun Factory Sensory Gym in the area—making HIC a vibrant, exciting place to learn and grow.
