Boys and Girl Club Program Assistant

NATURE OF WORK

This part-time position (20 hours/week) involves direct engagement with youth. This position provides mentorship and assists with youth programming, activities, and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide active supervision of youth during club programming and offer attentive engagement


• Mentor club members; assist them with school work, guide relationship building, teach conflict resolution, and participate in offering a safe space for youth to share their feelings


• Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all sensitive and personal information


• Assist with scheduled activities and events


• Be willing to lead some programming and prepare activities as requested by the B&G Program Manager


• Engage with parents/guardians, when necessary, to provide information about club programming and schedule


• Participate in community events and attend trainings, to stay informed on best practices


• Maintain the cleanliness and order of the club; this includes some janitorial duties and organizational elements


• Perform the regular duties of the B&G Program Manager in their absence


• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least two years’ work experience with youth (work or volunteer experience) in a group setting of 10 or more youth


• Good interpersonal skills


• Self-motivated, dependable, and empathetic to the needs of people


• Familiarity with youth programming


• Able to pass a criminal background check

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Alaska driver’s license


• High School Diploma or GED
