The Aboite Branch of the Allen County Public Library is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Branch Assistant to join our team in serving the vibrant suburban community of southwest Fort Wayne. Branch Assistants deliver excellent customer service and provide essential operational support to ensure our library runs smoothly. In this role, you’ll assist customers with library card registration, check materials in and out, answer general questions, and provide basic computer and technology help. If you enjoy working with people, problem-solving, and making a positive impact in your community, we’d love to meet you!
This position is 28 hours per week. The schedule is as follows:
Mondays: 12:15-9:15
Tuesdays: OFF
Wednesdays: 9-6
Thursdays: 5:15-9:15
Fridays/Saturdays: 9:15-6:15
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of customer service OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Starting pay is $13.77 per hour and up based on related and comparable work experience

Physical Demands
- Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment and stamina to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push carts that may weigh up to 100 pounds; agility to bend, reach and climb; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
