Burleson Youth Minister

Job Description                

The Youth Minister is responsible for leading and equipping leaders to create meaningful ministry experiences that help students and families at The Heights Church encounter the life-changing power of the gospel. This includes encouraging students to know Jesus, grow in their faith, and go into the world prepared to serve. The Youth Minister will foster a safe and welcoming environment for students to connect and belong, while developing and implementing a strategic plan to reach and retain 6th–12th graders. Responsibilities also include planning and executing Wednesday Night services and all youth-related events, as well as collaborating with the campus team on all Next Gen events.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a youth ministry vision that aligns with the church’s mission and values.


• Plan and lead engaging weekly youth gatherings featuring biblical teaching, worship, and community-building activities.


• Recruit, train, and disciple a team of youth leaders and volunteers to effectively mentor students.


• Build authentic relationships with students and families, providing pastoral care and discipleship.


• Organize youth events, retreats, outreach initiatives, and mission trips that inspire spiritual growth.


• Partner with parents through resources and events to equip them for spiritual leadership at home.


• Manage the ministry budget, calendar, and communications with clarity and efficiency.


• Collaborate with other campus and central youth leaders to ensure a unified, impactful ministry.

Additional Duties

• Attend weekly campus meetings, monthly staff meetings, weekend services, and special events.


• Create, manage, and post content on youth ministry social media platforms.


• Prepare and deliver sermons from curriculum; facilitate and organize Wednesday night youth services for students in grades 6–12.


• Develop and submit semester calendars aligned with the church-wide calendar for events, summer camps, volunteer appreciation, and more.


• Maintain compliance with all church policies and procedures.


• Help bridge the gap for seniors going into young adults and 5th graders entering youth ministry.


• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications for Youth Minister

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills accompanied by a positive attitude with students in the church.


• Creativity and proficiency with technology to design engaging, innovative ways for students to grow in their faith and understand life in Christ.


• Ability to connect with young people, earning their respect and trust through genuine relationships.


• Strong organizational and supervisory skills.


• Effective management and leadership abilities for teaching, preaching, and sharing biblical truths.


• Proven leadership in recruiting, managing, and equipping volunteers.


• Evident personal relationship with God and commitment to the mission of the church.


• Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.


• Knowledge and proficiency in evangelical studies and youth ministry principles.


• Physical capability to lift and move tables, chairs, and other ministry equipment.


• Ongoing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and a heartfelt passion for mentoring and guiding youth in their faith.
