Bus Driver II (Part-Time)

The City of Bowie is looking for a committed Bus Driver II to join our team. This individual will be responsible for picking up, transporting, and dropping off senior citizens at various locations. This role involves using vehicles ranging from a passenger van to a sixteen-passenger bus to facilitate trips within approximately a 30-mile radius of Bowie.

Essential Job Functions:

·       Drive city vehicle in a safe and economical manner while engaged in the pickup and discharge of          passengers to predetermined location

·       Operate a mobile smart device while using an application for schedules, routes, passenger                    information and communication

·       Collect and input fares collected from passengers into Tripmaster application.

·       Preforms daily a regular vehicle safety checks, using a mobile application to digitally enter                      information on a vehicle used to ensure the major working components are in good order                      including tire pressure, engine fluid, radiator level, brakes, lights and directional signals,                          windshield wipers, mirrors, safety, emergence equipment, access ramps, and wheelchair lift                  equipment when wheelchair riders are scheduled for transportation services on that day

·       Assist passengers as needed, especially regarding getting on and off the vehicle, loading and                unloading packages and groceries, and/or delivery of meals to homebound elderly as needed.

·       Operates chair lift and ramps on equipped vehicles to load and unload passengers, also checks            as needed and assist passengers getting on and off buff.

·       Provides transportation to and from medical appointments in the Bowie area

·       Provides transportation to and from the Bowie Senior Center and the Bowie Town Center

·       Recommend vehicle repairs

·       Identify and performs other related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications: 

• Must have High School Diploma


• Valid CDL License with (P) Passenger endorsement issued in the state in which the employee resides


• Valid DOT Certificate


• CPR Certification preferred (Must be obtain within three months )

Salary:   $ 20.99 Hourly
