Job Description - Bus Driver - Seniors / Program Support (Part-Time <1,000 hours/year)

Starting Hourly Rate: $16.59


 


JOB DESCRIPTION: 


Under the general supervision of the Senior Services Supervisor and direct supervision of the Senior Coordinator, this position provides safe and reliable transportation for senior participants and plays an active role in supporting daily center operations, including assisting with senior activities, meal service, facility support, and vehicle maintenance.


 


EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:


Program & Facility Support


  • Set up and break down rooms for daily activities, including placement of tables, chairs, and program equipment

  • Prepare coffee bar prior to morning transportation routes

  • Assist with room reconfigurations throughout the day as needed

  • Provide support for daily activities, special events, and senior programs


Transportation Duties



  • Provide daily shuttle transportation for senior participants to and from the Mansfield Activities Center

  • Safely load and unload passengers, ensuring proper use of mobility equipment and safety procedures

  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including mileage tracking, tire tread checks, and monitoring fluid levels

  • Notify Senior Services Supervisor of maintenance or repair needs

  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles (interior and exterior)

  • Refuel vehicles as needed

  • Provide transportation for field trips, shuttle service, and special events



    Food Service Support



    • Assist with preparation and service of senior lunches

    • Bus and clean tables; tear down and reset the area

    • Clean kitchen areas and remove trash following meal service

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Flexible, energetic, and outgoing personality

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team 

    • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated

    • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing program or event needs 

    • Must have reliable personal transportation

    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Google Drive, and related applications Ability to operate an iPhone and use standard mobile apps


     


    REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:



    • High school diploma or equivalent required

    • Must be at least 21 years of age

    • Valid Texas drivers license


     


    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



    • Experience working with senior adults

    • Experience driving large or commercial vehicles

    • Experience serving food 

    • CPR certified preferred

    • Additional training or experience




         


        ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:


        The physical activity of this position 



        • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. 

        • Stooping. Bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist. 

        • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

        • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.

        • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

        • Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

        • Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

        • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

        • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

        • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

        • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

        • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

        • Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

        • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

        • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make discriminations in sound.

        • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.


        The physical requirements of this position



        • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


        The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. 



        • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures 


        The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position



        • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

        • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

        • The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
