Cafeteria Worker

THE POSITION: The job of Cafeteria Worker was established for the purpose of verifying student orders as they come through the lunch line; distributing food items; providing complete and accurate documentation and audit trail for meals served; and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: assignments are specific and clearly defined. Employees must be aware and comply with safety and sanitation laws, policies and procedures. This job reports to Cafeteria Manager and the Principal or Designee.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of Denver
• Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Faculty Handbook 
• Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of making items available to students and staff
• Verifies student and staff orders in the lunch line
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
• Supervises students in the serving area with regard to safety and behavior
• Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
• Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
• Works in a team environment and encourages open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents and co-workers.
• Additional duties assigned by the principal/cafeteria manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meets state and local health regulations, as required
• Ability to maintain current CPR and 1st Aid certifications
• Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions
• Maintain good physical health with the ability to perform job duties, lift 30 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on floor, reach overhead

• Solid computer skills and ability to manage and report data accurately and efficiently

• Must complete all classes/seminars as directed by Good Shepherd Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Denver 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to lift or carry lunchroom supplies, food orders, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds

Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion

Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis

Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and dishwashing

Required to monitor students

Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
