At Family Relief Resources (FRR), our mission is to provide families and clients with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities with the quality, person-centered daily care they need. We provide qualified DSPs who have a passion and drive to help these individuals, with a positive, stable, and highly compensated work opportunity. We recognize this is a special gift and we are dedicated to helping every DSP to find the client they are meant to help.
Location: Hillsboro
Schedule: Fridays 12pm-8pm and Saturday/Sunday 8 ours shifts flexible on start time.
About the Client:
The client is a 13‑year‑old happy and social boy diagnosed with diabetes and ITTP. He requires support from a DSP who can assist with both medical and daily living needs.
He loves water activities, spending time with family, and music. The client is mostly non‑verbal, but he responds to cueing, redirection, and consistent communication. Caregivers should interact verbally and find creative ways to encourage him to improve communication skills.
Nurse delegation training will be provided.
The DSP will be responsible for:
Insulin administration
Monitoring blood sugar levels
The client is working on toileting skills, and DSP support is needed as part of an established family plan. The family is also working toward increasing his independence with simple meals and ADLs.
DSP should be patient, kind, creative, and attuned to the client’s needs.
Responsibilities:
Assist with toileting and other hygiene tasks
Support with insulin administration and blood sugar monitoring (with nurse delegation training)
Engage in enjoyable, skill‑building activities
Encourage communication using verbal prompts, cues, and other strategies
Keep the client safe and supervised at all times
Support the client in building independence in simple meal prep and ADLs
Communicate concerns or changes to the family
Qualifications:
Experience working with children with special needs preferred
Comfortable with transporting a client
Ability to follow medical protocols and nurse‑delegated tasks
Patient, creative, and committed to supporting communication and independence
OIS training preferred (not required)
Direct Support Professional (DSP) / In Home Care Giver Responsibilities and Duties:
This role involves caring for a client on an individual basis in their home environment as well as taking them out into the community to learn skills and socialize. This role varies depending on the client but can involve teaching skills of independent living such as self-care, behavior management, budgeting, cooking, shopping and cleaning. Family Relief Resources is not a physical facility -100% of activities happen in the community or a client’s home.
