Description
This is a Part Time Carpentry Instructor position. Classes are taught 3 times per year, running 3 evenings a week for roughly 12 weeks at a time. The starting rate of pay is $35/hour.
SUMMARY
Instructs general carpentry skills in the areas of advanced framing and finish carpentry, concrete and form carpentry with a focus on achieving results and nurturing the next generation of skilled carpenters. The teaching methodology will adhere to the U.S. Department of Labor standards for apprenticeship programs while catering to shorter, specialized carpentry career pathways. professionals by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains accurate records of student performance, attendance, and individualized learning plans.
Generates and analyzes reports to assess the curriculum's effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
Administers regular module tests to evaluate students' understanding and proficiency in carpentry.
Provides timely and constructive assessment feedback, guiding students towards continuous improvement.
Conducts training within Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont guidelines utilizing NCCER standardized curriculum.
Conducts live demonstrations of carpentry techniques and emphasize safety protocols and best practices.
Provides students constructive feedback and individualized coaching to improve their skills and proficiency.
Identifies and addresses individual learning needs, adapting instructional strategies to accommodate diverse student abilities and backgrounds.
Communicates current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant field through instructional lectures.
Offers additional support and resources to students who need extra assistance mastering specific carpentry skills.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
At least four years' experience in the field of carpentry or three years of experience as a certified teacher at a vocational/technical construction or maintenance related training program.
Proven track record of fostering hands-on skills and a deep understanding of industry standards.
Enthusiastic about contributing their expertise to shape and empower future carpenters.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School degree or general education degree (GED).
COMPUTER SKILLS
Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Certified – preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The team member frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to talk or hear. The team member is occasionally (less than 1/3 of the day) required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception.
