Catholic Musician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and faithful Catholic Musician to enhance the worship experience through music. The ideal candidate will provide musical accompaniment and leadership during liturgical celebrations, ensuring that music aligns with Catholic traditions and enriches the spiritual atmosphere of the congregation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform liturgical music during Masses, weddings, funerals, and other parish events.

• Collaborate with clergy, choir members, and other musicians to select appropriate hymns and liturgical music.

• Provide instrumental and/or vocal accompaniment that aligns with Catholic liturgical traditions.

• Conduct rehearsals with choir members and instrumentalists as needed.

• Foster congregational participation through engaging and prayerful music.

• Maintain and expand the parish’s liturgical music repertoire.

• Ensure all music selections comply with Catholic liturgical guidelines and directives.

• Assist in special musical events, retreats, and community outreach programs.

• Maintain and care for musical instruments and sound equipment as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and traditions.

• Proficiency in playing an instrument (e.g., piano, organ, guitar) and/or strong vocal ability.

• Experience in leading and directing a choir is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret sheet music and liturgical guidelines.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holy days.

• Degree in Music, Liturgical Music, or a related field is a plus but not required.
