Emergency Department - Charge Nurse

PRN

Provides supervision of workflow and staff within the Department. Assures the provision of patient care by addressing performance, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Ensures on-going compliance with accrediting agency and State Licensure requirements. Shares knowledge of functions and standards to assist others in planning improvements; communicates information; designs materials and education programs; teaches; coaches and encourages recognition of achievement. Acts as a clinical resource and mentor/preceptor to staff. Operates within budgetary goals as defined by department executive. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.

  • Operational Activities of Unit.
  • Management of Patient Care on Unit.
  • Supervise, Delegate, & Assign Responsibilities to Staff.
  • Demonstrates Clinical Proficiency Utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Leadership and Critical Thinking.
  • Safety/Policy and Procedures.

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, Basic Cardiac Arrythmia, NIH Stroke Certification, Glucometer Training, 12 Lead, Aegis Training,
  • Nurse Wound Care, TNCC
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association within 90 days
  • Must obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)-American Heart Association within 90 days
  • Must obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)-American Heart Association within 90 days
  • Must obtain Basic Cardiac Arrythmia within 6 months
  • Must obtain NIH Stroke Certification within 6 months
  • Must obtain Glucometer Training on hire
  • Must obtain 12 Lead within 6 months
  • Must obtain Aegis Training per identified needs
  • Must obtain Nurse Wound Care within 30 days
  • Must obtain Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) within 6 months
