Job Title:  Climbing Wall Instructor                                               

FLSA Status:  non exempt              

Hours:  Sat 10am-1pm plus weeknight shifts, lessons and private events as available

Wage: $13.85/hour or doe

Reports to:  Director of Youth Development                    

Probation:  Subject to a 12-month introductory (probationary) period

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Climbing Wall Instructor is responsible for instructing climbers and certified belayers in the rock climbing wall area, as well as for belaying climbers, supervising safety an maintaining climbing records and equipment. Climbing staff provide encouragement, goal setting and adventure as part of healthy activity, fun and Y values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization, works with little supervision.

Requirements

Must have rock climbing experience, familiarity with top-rope climbing equipment and terms, sufficient physical strength and health to safely climb, belay and guide, and experience working with children.
