Job Description - Clinic Clinical Supervisor

Job purpose


The Outpatient Clinical Supervisor will demonstrate a clear leadership role and is responsible for overseeing the clinical aspects of the outpatient program. This includes, but is not limited to: supervising intake coordination (including SAP liaisons), managing all clinical aspects of referrals to the OP Clinic (including initial clinical review and communication with insurance providers per authorization as needed), addressing clinical staff issues, overseeing clinical quality of referrals and growth, clinical problem-solving, assisting with Quality Assurance, handling clinical complaints and grievances, building relationships with clinical stakeholders, and resolving clinical documentation issues. The Supervisor will attend clinical meetings as needed in collaboration with the Agency Director and Outpatient Clinic Director to manage Clinic operations and will work closely with all subsystems within the departments of the agency. The Supervisor may also provide clinical coverage for psychiatry management as needed and will have the authority to implement clinical training and corrective action to address staff non-compliance when necessary. The Supervisor reports directly to the Outpatient Clinic Director.


The clinical supervision position duties will require 20 hours per week, with potential for full- time employment through the addition of billable hours. There may be opportunities to provide training or consultation with outside entities as deemed appropriate, and assist with clinical supervision and support in other programs within the agency as needed.


Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities



  1. Ensure supervision of clinical staff

  2. Oversee the clinical aspects of the outpatient program

  3. Develop or implement policies and procedures for the operations of the clinic

  4. Hold regular meetings with clinical staff to discuss clinical cases, treatment plans, policies, procedures, and training

  5. Liaison with other portions of the service system

  6. Works in conjunction with the Clinic Director to employ, supervise, and discharge clinical staff in accordance with established personnel and company policies.

  7. Supervision and documentation of clinical staff training and development.

  8. Bill direct client hours as deemed appropriate or required. 

  9. Provide training and/or consultation with outside entities as contacted with Blair Family Solutions as deemed appropriate. 

  10. Assist with clinical supervision and support with other programs within the agency as needed or directed.

  11. Work in conjunction with other subsystems in order to address any clinical needs or issues regarding clinical staff to include documentation, medical records, interagency referrals, credentialing, billing, human resources and payroll. 

  12. Assist with quality assurance by conducting clinical chart audits.

  13. Address clinical complaints and grievances in a timely fashion. 

  14. Communication & Active Listening: Transmits information clearly, both verbally and in writing, ensuring consistent communication with clients, supervisors, and families. Consistently employs effective active listening skills.

Education/Experience Requirements



  • A qualified mental health professional with a Master’s Degree in Human Services and at least 2 years of supervisory experience 


Other Qualifications



  • All necessary child abuse clearances (PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and Federal Criminal History Clearance)

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Auto insurance

Working Conditions



  • Work will be completed in an office space within a medical clinic environment

Occasionally Incurred (Less than 25% of time on job) – ability to lift, ability to work in various temperatures, exposure to intermittent noise above 85DB, exposure to chemicals (cleaning)
