Job Description - Coa Volunteer Coordinator PT

SUMMARY:


 


Under the Direction of the COA Director, coordinates all components of the volunteer program, including recruitment, retention, and recognition, to ensure that all program needs are fully staffed.  Assists with submitting public relations notices to local newspapers and Facebook and assists with the monthly Newsletter.


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Collaborates with COA staff regularly to identify current and anticipated program needs.  Secures appropriate volunteer(s) to fulfill the need.

  2. Recruits volunteers via local media, Facebook, word of mouth, and other.  Interviews all prospective volunteers and assesses interest and skills to determine placement. 

  3. Maintains an updated list of all current and prospective volunteers in the COA computer software system.  Provides daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to COA staff as needed.

  4. Ensure that all volunteers are trained and properly supervised (when appropriate) and hours are recorded.

  5. Ensures that a high level of recognition is delivered to all volunteers, including an annual recognition event.

  6. Assists in the preparation of the monthly Newsletter

  7. Posts announcements/press releases on Facebook, local newspapers, website, and other forms of media.

  8. Provides backup assistance to other COA areas when necessary.

  9. Performs other duties of a similar nature and complexity, as directed.


 


PREFERRED BACKGROUND:



  • Satisfactory CORI report

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with prior experience in a volunteer-based organization or Human Resources field preferred

  • Willingness to provide public service to the community; especially to senior citizens and disabled residents;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors

  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Word and Excel software.  Ability to utilize COA-designated software and additional computer software as required.


 


This position is 10 - 15 hours per week
