Job Description - Community Banking Advocate



Part-time


Description

This is a hybrid position. Eligible candidates must reside within a commutable distance of Bethlehem, PA. Position also requires hands-on outreach and engagement throughout the community. 

General Responsibilities

Actively seeks to acquire new customer relationships throughout the entire community with a focus on underserved populations. Proactively supports customers through various stages of their financial lives by providing prudent financial education and guidance. Builds loyal client following and reputation of community integrity with each customer interaction. Ensures compliance with operating policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Communicates with appropriate management and staff personnel. Provides periodic reporting on business development and goal achievement. This is a part-time position (15 to 20 hours per week).

Essential Duties

  • Utilizes One Bank/One Team/One Brand discipline of collaboration and teamwork in order to achieve bank objectives. 
  • Works with local non-profit and faith-based organizations to reach financially underserved areas, including low-to-moderate income.  
  • Effectively communicates, educates, and relates to diverse groups on matters of financial literacy and the bank’s product suite. 
  • Routinely performs planned, proactive networking and outbound calling to attract new clientele and grow existing relationships. 
  • Well versed in bank’s retail and small business product and service suite, capably referring prospects and clients to banking partners. 
  • Collaborates with branch staff to deliver needs-based financial solutions in various offsite/in-community locations. 
  • Uncovers lending needs and sources consumer and residential mortgage opportunities in accordance with regulations and policies.
  • Takes a disciplined approach to relationship management, routinely contacting prospects and customers to provide financial guidance where needed. 
  • Implements strategies to achieve goals developed for the In-Community effort as part of the Retail Banking Division’s annual operating plan.  
  • Maintains timely performance reporting of efforts and accomplishments, utilizing appropriate bank systems, including CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.  

Ancillary Duties

  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.

While performing the essential job functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. At times required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. This position requires regular use of a computer. Routine travel out into the community in the assigned market(s) is expected. Must be available to hold and attend periodic night and weekend appointments and events.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Education/Training: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree generally required. NMLS registration necessary.
  • Skill(s): Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills; strong problem solving skills; expertise networking, particularly in non-profit sector required; conversant in banking products and services; proficient in use of various types of technology and software. Bi-lingual beneficial.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience working with community organizations. Some financial service exposure preferred.
