Schedule: Part-time, flexible (approximately 10–15 hours/week)

Join Our Movement:

Our region is building something special- called the Alaska South Coast Partnership (ASCP), we are a growing network of community leaders responding to the challenges and opportunities of the Alaskan Southcoast (the Alutiiq and Eyak homeland). Informed by indigenous values, we’re inviting passionate, community-rooted individuals to step into the role of Community Catalyst and help shape the next chapter of cultural, ecological, and economic sustainability in our home. This is more than a job. It’s a chance to bring your knowledge, experience, and heart into conversations that matter — and contribute to a future where communities thrive, cultures flourish, and decisions are shaped by those who know our communities the best. Together, we can build a more equitable and prosperous Alaska and create a future rooted in reciprocity, wellbeing, and joy. We would love for you to join us!

What You’ll Do:

Community Catalysts serve as trusted bridges between their home communities and the regional partnership. You'll help guide local projects, elevate community priorities, and support the creation of strong, collaborative systems that will serve the Southcoast for generations to come.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  1. Stay Grounded in Community:

    • Report directly to the Tribal organization or partner that hires and supports you.

    • Keep the work locally rooted, culturally grounded, and responsive to your community’s priorities.

  2. Connect Regionally:

    • Participate in all ASCP team meetings.

    • Help build and maintain the essential components of a thriving partnership — from communication systems to shared processes and goals.

  3. Share and Learn Together:

    • Take part in regular peer learning and communication across the Catalyst team to foster collective knowledge, creativity, and momentum.

  4. Be a Bridge:

    • Identify and share key local events, knowledge, or opportunities that can inform and enrich broader partnership activities.

  5. Support Local Action:

    • Help plan and carry out community-led projects that support local resilience — from subsistence and environmental planning to storytelling, data collection, or cultural events.

You Might Also:

  • Attend Tribal Council meetings to gather input and provide updates

  • Contribute to local climate action plans or grant applications

  • Support sharing of traditional knowledge related to land, sea, and culture

  • Participate in regional trainings and gatherings to deepen your skills and relationships

Who You Are:

We know leadership comes in many forms. You may be an experienced program coordinator or someone who has never worked in a formal role — what matters most is that you are:

  • Deeply connected to your community and committed to co-creating its equitable, resilient, and joyful future

  • A strong communicator and relationship-builder who values collaboration

  • Curious, reliable, and excited to learn, imagine, and grow with others

  • Grounded in local cultural knowledge, values, and stewardship practices

Working Conditions:

  • Community-based and flexible — all cultural, seasonal, and subsistence needs will be respected

  • Occasional travel for retreats, workshops, or gatherings

  • Support (such as internet, tech, or travel costs) provided as needed

What We Offer:

  • A welcoming network of peers, mentors, and regional partners

  • Opportunities for training, shared learning, and long-term impact

  • Competitive pay aligned with community wage standards

  • The chance to be part of a mission rooted in healing and sustainability

  • Tools, support, and systems that help make your work easier and more effective
