Reports To: Community Engagement Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Terms: Seasonal, Part-Time, Field-based
Supervisory Responsibility: None

GENERAL PURPOSE: The Community Engagement Crew raises awareness about Girl Scouts and connects families, volunteers, and community members to local program and membership opportunities. This seasonal, part-time role focuses on grassroots outreach – attending events, hosting sign-up sessions, and supporting the launch of new troops. Crew members serve as welcoming, informed representatives of Girl Scouts in the community and support smooth registration for youth and volunteers.

Schedule:
  • Field-based, 16-week position (August-early December)
  • Up to 25 hours/week during peak months (August-November)
  • Hiring for evening and weekend coverage

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ***(Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job)
  • Promote Girl Scouts at community events and recruitment sessions with a focus on forming new troops, recruiting adult volunteers, and registering new girl members.
  • Deliver pre-planned, inclusive activities for girls and caregivers at recruitment events, creating a fun and welcoming experience.
  • Support families and volunteers with online registration and troubleshooting.
  • Perform administrative tasks to aid in the preparation and execution of recruitment events as well as post-event data entry and follow-up for membership conversions.
  • Prep for and follow up on events, including data entry and supply management.
  • Track engagement and share feedback with the recruitment team.
  • Represent the Girl Scout brand with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Follow all safety and youth protection policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the broader Recruitment team to drive participation in recruitment opportunities and ensure consistent delivery of the council recruitment plan.
  • In accordance with the philosophy of Girl Scouts of Colorado, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.
  • Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.
  • Embrace diversity and inclusiveness by contributing to positive relationships between diverse racial, ethnic, and social groups in the Council as a whole and between employees and volunteers.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Formal Training 
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience
  • Experience working or volunteering in community outreach, youth programs, customer service, or event support.
  • Experience facilitating informal activities or tabling at community events preferred.
  • Experience with Girl Scouts preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communicator – Build rapport easily; clear and friendly in-person and online.
  • Community-Oriented – Comfortable engaging at events, schools, and local spaces.
  • Supportive Guide – Helps new members and volunteers feel welcomed and informed.
  • Event ready – Dependable, organized, and professional at in-person events.
  • Youth Engagement – Comfortable interacting with children and facilitating simple activities.
  • Tech-Savvy – Uses basic digital tools for tracking leads and follow-up.
  • Flexible & Proactive – Adapts to different settings; takes initiative in outreach.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills desired but not required. 

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards.
  • Access to registered transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company standards.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED 
  • Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment.  
  • Recruitment supplies including pop-up tents, folding tables, and supply carts in addition to marketing materials.
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 
  • Evenings and weekends required.
  • Regular travel to program locations required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers, customers and vendors.
  • Access to transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company.
  • Required to transport Girl Scout materials weighing up to 30 pounds from a vehicle to a building as well as preparing facilities for meetings without assistance.
