Community Services Worker/ Home Energy Assistance

Addison Community Action, a program of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, Inc., has an opening for a Community Services Worker/Home Energy Assistance position. They will provide emergency home energy assistance and/or direct services to households in crisis in the Champlain Valley. This includes the determination of eligibility for LIHEAP Crises or Emergency Fuel Assistance, WARMTH, FEMA and/or other available funding sources. The CSW will advocate or refer low-income households as appropriate regarding fuel assistance, housing, food shelf and other related services.

Bachelor’s degree in a related human services field (i.e., Social Work, Psychology) or equivalent education and related work experience. Prefer two (2) years of supervised social work experience working directly with individuals. Successful applicants must have effective verbal and written communication skills - bilingual abilities are a plus. Must demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment and be highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people, groups and organizations. Must demonstrate organizational, administrative and office skills; negotiating and mediating skills; excellent telephone, and interpersonal skills are vital.
