Companion Caregiver Opportunities | Galena / Elizabeth, IL Area

We are hiring multiple part- time caregivers for clients in the Galena / Elizabeth area. These are relationship-driven, low physical care cases centered around:

• Early-stage dementia support (cueing, reminders, structure)


• High-level companionship and conversation


• Light home support and organization


• Occasional transportation to appointments (including Dubuque)

Clients are:

• Highly intelligent, independent, and value dignity


• Conversational, reflective, and not task-driven


• Best supported by caregivers who can engage mentally and socially, not just complete tasks

Schedule

• Part-time


• Daytime hours including weekends


• Do have set schedule for these clients, but fill in shifts may also come available

What This Role Requires

• Experience with early-stage dementia or cognitive support (for applicable clients)


• Engages naturally in conversations


• Can balance presence with independence (not hovering, not absent)


• Notices patterns (eating, hydration, confusion) and acts early


• Calm, steady, and emotionally aware


• Comfortable with light structure: reminders, redirection, routine


• Meal prep and intake support


• Must be comfortable with pets (cats in one home)


• Comfortable in quiet, rural environments

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting and eager to learn


• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every day


• Compassionate, supportive, and dependable


• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare, in-home care, hospitality, or similar people-facing roles


• High school diploma or equivalent


• Takes pride in delivering high-quality, companionship-first care
