Job Description - Cook/Cashier

Description

We are seeking a cook to join our dedicated kitchen staff!  This position prepares food for the Kramer Café, special events and catering functions under strict food sanitation guidelines; other kitchen duties as assigned.

  

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with inventorying, ordering, and maintaining supplies and food.
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards within the food-handling areas.
  • An understanding and knowledge of proper food handling and service.
  • Ensures work area and kitchen is kept clean.
  • Covers, dates and stores food properly.
  • Identifies products needs through a prep list and maintains quality and amounts needed.
  • Reduce food waste by preparing properly and handling correctly.
  • Follows safety and good handling of knives and kitchen equipment.
  • Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  • Has station ready by service and all products are fresh and seasoned correctly.
  • Assist in organization of storage rooms and refrigerators.
  • Works together as a team with other coworkers and departments

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to interact and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess the ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
  • Position requires a highly professional demeanor, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to adhere to food service policies, procedures, and safety and sanitation.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work all shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in food preparation required.
  • Preferred someone with creativity who enjoys cooking.
  • High School graduate or preferred someone with formal culinary training.
  • Food Handler Certified or at least within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be flexible to meet various scheduling needs.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems (preferred but not required).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires ability to bend, stoop, lift, balance and carry items up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
