ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Somerset Hills YMCA is committed to celebrating the diversity of sports across the world and providing opportunities for our community members to engage in a variety of athletic pursuits. As part of our mission, we are excited to introduce cricket to our programming, recognizing its popularity and significance within the Indian community and beyond. We believe cricket offers an excellent opportunity for growth and inclusivity within our YMCA. We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Cricket Instructors to join our team and lead the development and implementation of cricket programs at Somerset Hills YMCA. The ideal candidates will have a passion for the sport, experience in coaching or playing cricket, and a desire to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all ages and skill levels.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver cricket programs and lessons for youth and adults, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to the needs and interests of diverse participants.
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to help participants improve their cricket skills and knowledge of the game.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during cricket activities and events.
  • Collaborate with other YMCA staff members to promote cricket programs and recruit participants from the Indian community and beyond.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities used for cricket programs, ensuring they are safe, clean, and in good working condition.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for cricket and a strong understanding of the rules, techniques, and strategies of the game.
  • Experience coaching, playing, or officiating cricket at the recreational or competitive level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with participants, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program schedules and events.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and explain sports skills that are being taught to multiple age groups / ability levels and be inclusive of all.
  • Must be alert and have the quick ability to identify and prevent any safety concerns as they arise.
  • Must be consistent on a weekly basis and be very minimally absent, if at all, to provide consistency and quality to participants.

SCHEDULE:

*All availabilities are welcome to apply. Most classes happen between 4pm-7pm M-F and Saturday and Sunday mornings.
