Custodian

Part-Time Averaging 15 hours per week. Work will take place outside of school hours (late

afternoon/evenings, occasionally on weekends)

Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff and visitors. This includes daily cleaning at the Academy of restrooms, cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways and common areas. This position will also perform routine maintenance at the academy and church/parish office location. The majority of work will take place at the academy with occasional work done at the church/parish office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Academy Location:

o Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas of the Academy.

o Sweep, mop and vacuum floors and empty trash receptacles.

o Refill soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers.

o Perform minor repairs (e.g. replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, addressing small maintenance issues)

o Maintaining an inventory of supplies and notifying the Head of School or Head of Operations of shortages

or equipment needs.

o Maintain a log of regularly scheduled maintenance items.

o Do regular walk-thru of interior and exterior of building to identify issues that need attention.

o Report safety hazards, damage, or maintenance issues.

o Secure the building by locking doors, windows, and activating alarms as needed.

o Follow all safety guidelines and protocols for handling cleaning supplies and equipment.

o Assist with the occasional set-up and breakdown of furniture for school events.

o Additional duties as assigned.

Church Location:

o Perform minor repairs as needed (e.g. replacing lightbulbs, addressing small maintenance issues)

o Assist with occasional set-up and breakdown of furniture for parish events.

o Do weekly walk-thru of interior and exterior of building to identify issues that need attention.

o Report safety hazards, damage or maintenance issues.

o Secure the building by locking doors, windows, and activating alarm systems as needed.

Qualifications:

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.

• Ability to work independently and follow oral and written instructions.

• Strong attention to detail, reliability and professionalism.
