Custodian Part-Time (Kapaa Kauai)

We are looking to hire a highly motivated individual, dependable, trustworthy, good customer service and detail-oriented to join Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM). The part-time Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the building based on assigned cleaning duties located at a preschool located in Kapaa, HI 96746. Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high standard of maintaining cleanliness: cleaning restrooms, classrooms, offices, conference room, and storage area.


• Clean, sweep, mop, and dust common areas


• Deep cleaning during the fall and summer breaks, which includes carpet and window cleaning.


• Restock cleaning supplies


• Notify appropriate HBM employee of the supplies and equipment that are needed for cleaning duties.


• Follow safety procedures


• Report safety issues or building problems (i.e. burnt light bulbs, etc.)


•  Multi-task, work efficiently both independently and as a team


• Uphold a high standard of professionalism and customer service at all times


• Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers Perform all other duties as assigned

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 5:00pm – 8:00pm (15 hours a week)

Compensation: $18.00/per hour

Skills/Qualifications:

• Must pass background check and TB clearance


• High school diploma/GED preferred


• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English


• Must have good public relations skills and communication


• Previous custodian, maintenance experience, general construction field or related experience is preferred


• Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, push, pull, carry a minimum of 25lbs (up to 50lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, and stand throughout their shifts.
