TKA is a Christ-centered school grounded in a Biblical worldview, and we are looking for a Debate Coach who is a follower of Jesus Christ and is dedicated to the school’s Christ-centered mission. The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise a student-centered program that focuses on giving students a unique and stimulating experience in debate by supporting the head coach in logistics, watching practice debates/speeches, and attending some competitions when needed.
Requirements
Essential Job Functions
Regular Activities
Build leadership, self-confidence, and problem solving skills among the students
Facilitate meetings and help the team to coordinate work
Provide some hands-on guidance and feedback for the students’ debate cases and arguments
Help with logistics such as registration fees, tournament sign-ups, getting judges, and paying dues
Could be asked to help with judging as needed at some tournaments
Qualifications
Education and Experience
1+ years of experience in related field, as a student or a coach, or a willingness to attend trainings
Ability to foster community
Positive, flexible, resourceful and solution-oriented
Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
Able to work both independently and in a team setting
Demonstrated ability to lead by example
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Ability to learn new computer software systems

Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Positive, flexible, resourceful and solution-oriented

Must be active (or pursuing) community in a local Christian body of believers

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Required to use the computer throughout the day
Frequently communicates with students and parents
Work will be performed from the campus and travel to competitions
May occasionally have to lift up to 20 pounds
Work is generally performed, Mid August-Early June
One regular per week for approximately one hour and meetings with students by request and as available (approximately one hour a week)
At least one tournament a semester where all-day physical attendance is necessary
This position will occasionally require you to work nights, weekends
The timeframes listed are approximate, and the actual days will be dictated by the competition season and the department’s needs.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Grid: Assistant Coach Debate Team
Pay Grid Range: $2,575.00
The amount listed above represents the pay for the entire season based on the routine hours that are expected to be worked.
