Overview 

We are seeking a reliable individual and safe driver who is motivated to help our fellow community members by supporting our food programs in the following ways: preparing, loading, unloading, and delivering food to our partner sites and other area locations; assisting in maintaining the organization of Food Programs and Market spaces; keeping the delivery vehicle clean and organized; and other duties as assigned.  

The ideal candidate is a safe and courteous driver, and able to drive a cargo van (and preferably a 20’ box truck; MED card required). They have strong organization and communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, including keep all works areas clean and tidy. They thrive in a busy environment and work well with others to complete tasks. They are able to fill in slow periods with needed tasks and are flexible to last-minute changes to the day’s schedule.

Compensation & Schedule 

This position is a 20 hours/week Monday to Thursday position. The hours are Mon 9-2, Tues 8-1, Weds 9-2, Thurs 9-2. The pay is $20/hour.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license, and a safe driving record. 


• A polite and professional disposition.  


• Repetitive heavy lifting involved. Preparing, loading, unloading, and delivery to our site and other area locations. Ability to swiftly and carefully lift up to 50 lbs., and work on your feet for a 4-hour shift. 


• Maintain safe operation and clean appearance by complying with operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as state and local driving rules and regulations. 


• Effectively represent the Haven with external partners with professionalism and maturity. 


• Interacts comfortably with people from a wide range of social, economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. 

Preferences 

• Ability to continue programs deliveries independently in the absence of the Food Programs Coordinator. 


• Ability to operate a manual and an electric pallet jack (training provided). 


• Ability to pass the DOT medical physical. Reimbursement available if needed. 


• Ability to work occasional 8-hour days, in the absence of the Market’s full-time driver, if MED card is obtained.
