Deputy Clerk of Court - Part Time

The Albany County Clerk of District Court is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Clerk.  This position is a part-time non-benefitted position.  The Deputy Clerk is responsible for technical clerical work in the administrative support office within the court.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 
  High School Diploma or GED equivalent;


• 
  Proficient in spelling and understanding of legal terms;


• 
  Basic data entry and computer skills;


• 
  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  The ability to interact with the public;


• 
  Possess a willingness to learn and be motivated to work hard;


• 
  Courtroom/legal experience preferred

The Clerk of District Court Deputy is responsible for the following:

• 
  Attend court hearings and assist the Judge with court proceedings.


• 
  Keep detailed entries of all court hearings. Enter court proceedings in a computerized information system (Fullcourt Enterprise, FCE).


• 
  Prepare and/or maintain case files and appeal files, judgment and sentence forms, and related court documents.


• 
  Receive payment of court fines and fees, bail, bond and child support. Record, receipt and deposit payments according to established court procedures.


• 
  Provide case status and case information to attorneys, agencies, and the general public on court hearings and procedures (NOT LEGAL ADVICE).


• 
  Keep accurate and complete case records, make required docket entries, prepare case files for court sessions, ensuring files are complete and accurate.


• 
  Initiate correspondence when necessary.


• 
  Ensure that jurors in a random selection are notified for jury duty. Oversee trial processes with regard to oaths in the courtroom, case timeline, and bailiff activities.


• 
  Perform passport application processing and record searches.


• Interact with Department of Criminal Investigation regarding disposition reporting.


• 
  Other duties as may be assigned.

Salary:   $19/hour - 28 hours per week
