Dinosaur Puppeteer

General Statement of Duties

The Dinosaur Puppeteer is a magical ambassador for promoting the Virginia Living Museum at special events, in Museum productions, and for photo opportunities. The Dinosaur puppeteer operates the T. rex animatronic puppet as a fun, engaging, and interactive public experience that inspires families to explore our dinosaur exhibits and have fun at the VLM. The dinosaur puppeteer should provide a broad range of experiences (from gentle and tame for our youngest visitors to loud and exciting for older children and adults). 

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Be a positive, enthusiastic representative of the Virginia Living Museum.
• Follows museum safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned. 

• Must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to lift and/or exert up to 50 pounds
• Dinosaur Puppet is a fixed size and the applicants must fit comfortably within the suit.
• Must be able to move throughout the Museum’s building(s) and outdoor trail as needed.
• Must be able to operate the T. Rex Puppet for a period of up to 30 minutes in a dark, hot environment. 
• The candidate will be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity.
