Job description for Direct Care Provider (8 - 12 Hour Weekend Shift)
Serenity of Mind, Inc. is an agency providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Current services include group home/residential habitation, companionship and transportation. We are seeking a passionate, patient, and compassionate Direct Care Provider (Caregiver) to join our team! The individual will supervise individuals with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities in the community setting to ensure they are able to safely engage. The primary role is to be a companion of the individual while they are out and about in the community engaging in a meaningful activity of choice. The role will also require assistance with the activities for daily living, medication administration, and behavioral aspects of individuals with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities.
The goal is to provide supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities to ensure safety, comfort, and protection of individual rights. Provide direction, assistance and support for all aspects of self-care and daily living activities. Assist in dealing with medication administration, behavioral, and emotional needs. Assist in meal preparation when needed. You must be able to provide transportation to and from the activity of choice in the community. You will be required to complete required documentation and paperwork, detailing the activity on a daily basis. There may be additional tasks as requested.
Responsibilities:
- Transport clients in personal vehicle or company vehicle
- Assist clients with daily living activities
- Assist with preparing meals, light housekeeping, and laundry
- Complete all required documentation by end of shift
- Communicate ongoing care results and updates to supervisor
- Collaborate with clients and families for best care opportunities
- Maintain a healthy and comfortable living environment
- Morning shift: 7am-3pm
- Saturday and Sunday
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Must have passing level 2 background
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, personal care or other related fields
- Compassionate, reliable and caring demeanor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Florida Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
