Why Work Here? “Friendly environment and lots of room for growth.” As a Direct Support Staff Professional, you will be responsible for supporting one individual with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the home. Essential Functions.
Caring for the emotional and physical needs of the participants according to their level of independence through positive interactions.
Assisting with and ensuring personal hygiene and maintaining the cleanliness of the home and physical environment.
Training, encouraging, and assisting participants in the preparation of nutritional, well-balanced meals in accordance with any recorded dietary restrictions.
Working with participants’ families and teams to ensure concerns are successfully resolved.
Assuring the privacy of participant information by appropriately limiting disclosures of protected information to those who are directly responsible for the treatment and administration of the participant. Store, handle and share protected information in accordance with Heart of Gold's policies and HIPAA regulations.
Document all incidents, communications logs, PCP goals, behavior plan collection, and other documents as requested.
Providing ongoing, timely communication to the assigned Coordinator on all items of importance as it relates to the care and welfare of participants.
Assisting the participants to maintain healthy relationships with family and friends.
Reviewing and being familiar with nursing medical status and assessments of participants.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: being familiar with participants/residents' PCP, goals, and data collection.
Facilitates and actively participates with participant attendance in recreational, leisure, and social activities.
Assisting participants during medical appointments and ancillary services.
Education
Must have a high school diploma or GED, experience, and/or training in the related field.
Must be able to pass with a clean criminal background check.
Complete the required DDA training prior to service delivery
Be current in first CPR and First Aid.
Complete necessary pre/in-service training based on the Person-Centered Plan;
