Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Direct Support Professional will be responsible for helping individuals with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and grooming, as well as providing emotional support, socialization opportunities, and transportation to appointments and activities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a passion for improving the lives of those with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and grooming.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and caregivers to promote emotional well-being and community integration.
- Implement individualized care plans and document progress toward goals and objectives.
- Provide assistance with transportation to appointments and community activities.
- Administer medications and medical treatments as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication schedules.
- Monitor and report any changes in the physical or emotional health of individuals to appropriate medical and/or administrative staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for individuals and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Attend training and meetings as required to maintain and improve job skills and knowledge.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed and in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Must pass background check.

Physical Demands:
The Direct Support Professional must be able to perform the following physical demands:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
- Assist individuals with physical disabilities with mobility and transfers.
Working Conditions:
The Direct Support Professional may work in a variety of settings, including group homes, day programs, and community settings. The work may involve exposure to individuals with communicable diseases and/or behaviors that may be challenging. The work schedule will include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
