Job Description - Dsp/Pca Mon-Fri 3:30P-6:30P



The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a key role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or other special needs to live fulfilling and integrated lives. This position emphasizes community outings, integration, and personal growth, while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of individuals in various environments. The DSP will assist individuals in achieving personal goals, participating in community activities, and maintaining their overall quality of life.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Support and Care:

  • Monitor the individual's comfort and safety, ensuring medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met.

  • Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and feeding when necessary.

  • Prepare and serve well-balanced meals and snacks, and assist individuals with menu planning, grocery shopping, and food preparation.

  • Support individuals in maintaining their living space by assisting with housekeeping and laundry duties.

  • Ensure individuals' health and medical needs are addressed, including medication administration, documentation of health changes, and accompanying them to medical appointments if required.


  • Community Integration:

  • Plan, organize, and accompany individuals on community outings such as social events, recreational activities, spiritual activities, and volunteer opportunities to promote community engagement and integration.

  • Provide or arrange transportation for individuals to participate in activities, ensuring safe and timely travel.

  • Empower individuals to set and achieve personal goals related to community involvement, independence, and social interaction.


  • Person-Centered Support:

  • Assist individuals in identifying and achieving personal outcomes that are important and relevant to them.

  • Interact with individuals in a supportive, respectful, and therapeutic manner, reinforcing appropriate behaviors and promoting a positive self-image.

  • Promote independence and encourage decision-making to help individuals lead self-directed lives.


  • Communication & Collaboration:

  • Maintain effective verbal and written communication with staff, individuals’ families, guardians, and outside service providers to ensure cohesive and continuous care.

  • Communicate individuals’ progress, personal achievements, and any concerns to team members, supervisors, and guardians regularly.

  • Attend in-service training and meetings as advised by the QDDP or Program Director to stay updated on best practices, policies, and procedures.


  • Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals’ progress by writing daily notes, progress reports, and documenting all other required information (e.g., medical and programmatic files).

  • Ensure all documentation complies with state and organizational policies.

  • Practice effective techniques for reinforcing appropriate individual behavior and adhere to individual service plans and behavioral support plans.


Pay: Up to $21.00 per hour
