We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher to join our after-school program team and help lead the way in high-quality, faith-aligned early education.
Position Summary:
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering developmentally appropriate instruction while creating a warm, engaging, and structured classroom environment. You’ll collaborate with fellow educators to plan lessons, guide behavior, and support each child’s unique learning journey—all while modeling Christian values and compassion throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Instruction
- Create and implement age-appropriate, hands-on lesson plans that promote whole-child development
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the varied learning styles and abilities of children
- Promote curiosity, creativity, independence, and foundational skills through interactive play and activities
Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respectful behavior and peer collaboration
- Establish consistent routines for meals, rest, transitions, and group learning
- Use positive behavior guidance strategies to foster self-regulation and problem-solving
- Be physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50 lbs
Individualized Support
- Observe and assess each child’s development, using insights to guide instruction and interventions
- Offer differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of all learners
- Communicate regularly and collaboratively with parents and guardians to ensure consistency between home and school
Spiritual Development (applies to non-state-funded classrooms only)
- Incorporate Christian values into classroom experiences through songs, storytelling, and daily interactions
- Model kindness, empathy, and love while building a classroom culture grounded in faith and community
Team Collaboration & Growth
- Partner with colleagues, administrators, and families to support each child’s success
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and center-wide initiatives
- Maintain professionalism, organization, and attention to detail in all aspects of classroom and center operations
Other Duties
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as needed to support center needs
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or NC Early Childhood Credential (required); CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- Prior experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
- Strong understanding of child development principles and early education best practices
- Familiarity with or willingness to integrate Christian values into teaching
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must pass all background checks and screenings in accordance with state and church policies
