About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to support early elementary students at PS 346 Abe Stark. This role combines small-group literacy tutoring with lunch duty support. The ideal candidate will work closely with K–2 teachers to reinforce foundational reading skills, while also assisting with midday supervision during lunch hours.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide small-group reading and literacy instruction in grades K–2, both in the morning and afternoon.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to tailor lessons to individual student needs.
• Help students develop key reading comprehension, phonics, and vocabulary skills.
• Supervise and support students during lunch hours (10:00 AM–1:00 PM), ensuring a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment.
• Foster a nurturing and encouraging space for young learners to thrive.
• Track student progress and communicate insights to classroom teachers.

Schedule:

• Days: Monday – Friday
• Time: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM (includes a 30-minute lunch break)
  • 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: K–2 reading tutoring
  • 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Lunch duty
  • 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: K–2 reading tutoring
• Duration: Starting April 21, 2025 – TBD
• Key Dates Off:
  • May 26: Memorial Day
  • June 5: Anniversary Day
  • June 6: Clerical Day

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or working with early elementary students in reading/literacy instruction.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong understanding of foundational literacy instruction for grades K–2.
• Reliability: Must be available and punctual for the full program schedule.
• Team Player: Comfortable working alongside teachers and school staff in both academic and non-academic settings.
• Mission-Driven: A strong commitment to equity and educational access for historically underserved communities.
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
