Job Description - Education Coordinator

Description

Part-Time Position: 24-30 hours per week 

Job Summary: Provide education opportunities to staff for continuing education credits and expanded knowledgebase within professional field. Network with area schools to develop relationships and networking for recruitment. Development and oversite of apprenticeship program activities to ensure efficiency and alignment with organizational goals and state program.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Position does require flexibility in hours, working some evenings and weekends, dependent upon scheduled classes and activities. 
  • Coordination of Nursing CE and Physician CME – includes annual and five year report for KSBN and following
  • KSBN Nurse Practice Act.
  • American Heart Association Training Faculty-
  • Coordinator/Instructor – teaches a majority of CPR classes 
  • Coordinator/Instructor - ACLS– will obtain instructor status within two years of obtaining position and coordinate and teach classes.
  • Coordinate – PALS – will coordinate classes dates/times with instructors.
  • Coordinates TNCC, NRP and other courses for staff needs – dates, times, and KSBN requirements for CNE to be provided. 
  • Coordinates AHA class, keeping instructors updated on all changes; ensuring all supplies are kept in good repair, and updating as needed. 
  • Maintaining providership with the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
  • Reviewing of objectives to ensure education needs are being met for WNH employees. 
  • Collecting appropriate funds from each of the classes and turning it in to the Business Office/keeping a detailed ledger of all money collected.
  • Select and maintain record of hospital preceptors for apprenticeship program ensuring compliance with state program. 
  • Work with leaders to select employees to be accepted into appropriate apprenticeship program. 
  • Add additional apprentice programs and coordinating preceptor materials as approved by the state of Kansas.
  • Development of On-line Annual Training for all employees; send out reminders and keep department directors/supervisors informed of completion, results, etc. Set up all students to take online testing if completing more than 10 hours at WNH.
  • Coordinating and orientation for all students including: lab, radiology, Nursing, med students, audiology, Southwestern College athletic training, Winfield high School Health Careers and serve on their advisory board; shadow student program; coordinate all tours for all ages and groups.
  • Coordinates annual nursing competencies.
  • Coordinate outside Education travel/reimbursement/registration for all employees traveling to continuing education programs. This sometimes requires making hotel reservations and flight arrangements.
  • Coordinates and oversees Nurse Residency Program upon its completion.
  • Collaborate with marketing, HR, and nursing leaders to develop recruitment materials.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Human Resources or Chief Executive Officer. 

Requirements

Professional Requirements:

  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.     
  • Completes annual educational requirements.     
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time frame. 
  • Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.
  • Completes hospital in-services as required.     
  • Utilizes access to internet web-based insurance resources for education, eligibility, follow up and billing as applicable.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.   
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.     
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.  
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.     
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. 
  • Communicates the mission, vision and core values of the hospital.  
  • Demonstrates knowledge and/or location of Safety/Emergency Preparedness Manual, location of disaster packets, personal protective equipment and responsibilities during all Codes.
  • Adherence with compliance of William Newton Hospital’s policies. Demonstrates familiarity with employee handbook.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Previous hospital or clinic experience required
  • Knowledge/understanding of clinical education
