Description

What We Do…

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is driven in the belief that there is power behind simple acts of kindness. Throughout our work, staff, patrons, and community, we strive to spread kindness wherever we can and to encourage children to act kindly toward others. We are proud to be an organization where a dynamic mix of talented, committed, and enthusiastic people come together to do their best work.

THIS JOB IN A NUTSHELL…

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s aim is to expand our reach through theatre education residencies. As our first Residency Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for promoting our theatre education residencies to new and existing schools and organizations. You are ideal for this position if you are not only comfortable making cold calls and pitching opportunities, but you are also genuinely gratified by closing a deal and achieving targets.

If you enjoy customer engagement and stewardship, project management, event facilitation, and you can rock a spreadsheet/checklist/project management tool, this opportunity may be meant for you. This newly created position is a regular, part-time salaried position with the potential to expand to full-time.

In Year One:

In collaboration with the Managing Director and Director of Education, you will help define the strategy and tactics for increasing the volume of our theatre education residences.

  • You will build a comprehensive list of potential partner schools and community partners, considering demographics, logistics, access, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • You will contact current and prospective sites to secure residencies and meet budget revenue goals.
  • In collaboration with the Education Team, you will help develop and organize professional development workshops for teachers to experience the residency curriculum and demonstrate how to integrate theatre education into the standard course of study.
  • You will work closely with the Education Team to train and staff residencies from our current talent pool, as well as from a pool of new teaching artist applicants.
  •  You will work closely with our Camps and Community Programs Manager to learn about and evaluate current residencies and community programs.
  • On an ongoing basis, you will evaluate and adjust programming to ensure it meets our standard of excellence, educational goals, and is standardized and replicable by the end of year one. This includes distributing, collecting, and reporting participant data and surveys throughout the year.

As we approach the end of year one, you will collaborate with senior leaders to evaluate progress to date and set year two goals, budget, strategy and tactics.  Based on your impact and results and alignment with CTC’s strategic plan, the position may move to regular, full-time status.
